In this section, we are going to tell you what I think about self-aware self-awareness and how to apply it in your day-to-day life.
We have to start with two main points. First, it’s not enough to be self-aware; it’s not enough to be self-aware. The second point is that we need to be aware of ourselves in order to truly self-aware. So if you’re a self-aware person, you need to be able to really self-aware yourself.
Self-awareness is the ability to notice ourselves and recognize our own thoughts, feelings, actions, and motivations. It is the ability to acknowledge what we think and feel, and to recognize that we are doing things that are harmful to ourselves. So if you think about our last two paragraphs, you know that we have to be able to both think and feel. So to be able to be aware of ourselves, we need to think and feel.
You’re a self-aware person if you can really think and feel. To be able to think and feel, you need to be able to experience what you think and feel. How can you experience what you think and feel? Well, you can’t. You can only think and feel what you’ve experienced. So how do you experience the moment you think about something? Let’s say you think about something very strongly, like a particular piece of art.
The moment you think about something very strongly, you probably want to remember it. You certainly don’t want to forget. So you’re in the realm of thought where you’re trying to remember. If you try to forget it, you’re trying to forget it because youre trying to think. To think you need to be aware of yourself and your thoughts.
What are you trying to remember? Are you going to remember your past? If so, what youre trying to remember is like a very specific image of some movie movie or a personal diary. When I was a kid my grandma thought you had a special memory of a kid who was in a different movie than you.
The problem with remembering a past is that you can forget it. That is, if you try to forget the past, you remember just the same thing. The problem is not that you forget or that you remember different things—the problem is youre trying to remember it wrong. To remember you need to be aware of yourself and your thoughts.
If you remember it wrong, you then remember it wrong, which means you remember it wrong. You are just repeating the same thoughts over and over. To remember something, you need to be aware of how you feel about that thing and the thoughts that go with it.
