We’ve been conditioned to think that the top of mind meaning is when what you are thinking is important. And it’s true. Think about it. You wake up in the morning, you have to put your shoes on, you have to walk down the stairs, you have your morning routine. But what is the top of mind meaning? There are three levels. One is the general purpose, that which is obvious to everyone.
You are very aware of your general purpose. You have your general purpose in your mind. This is what you focus on when you are out and about. If you are worried about something, you look up what it is, what is its most important thing. If you were on the phone with your mom, you would be thinking of her, not your phone conversation.
In our time-loop we’re constantly tuning out our internal priorities and thinking of our past, not our future, to find out what we’re missing. When we’re on autopilot, we’re always looking for what we need to do. When we are not, we don’t like how others are behaving, or how others are thinking. When we are on autopilot, we’re always thinking about what we need to do.
Our minds are the most important part of our body. As we age, the main organs of our brain that are most affected are our short-term memory, our visual cortex, and our prefrontal cortex. The prefrontal cortex is responsible for analyzing our own thoughts and how we feel, what emotions are most important to us, and how we should act.
